5th Oct 2013 - UD loss to Wladimir Klitschko

Alexander Povetkin is a former amateur kickboxer who made his professional debut as a boxer in Germany in 2005. The Russian has been undefeated in his career to date, and won a Gold medal in the super heavyweight division of the Olympic Games in 2004.

In 2008, Povetkin pulled out of a fight with Wladimir Klitschko due to injury and was out of the ring for nine months while he recovered. He won his comeback against Jason Estrada in 2009, before relocating to New York to train under Teddy Atlas.

More recently, in 2011, the WBA World Heavyweight Championship became vacant and was won by Povetkin, who defeated Uzbekistan's Ruslan Chagaev.

The Russian continued his WBA World title reign live on BoxNation as he saw off the formidable challenge of WBO World Cruiserweight Champion Marco Huck, before two more TKO defences against Hasim Rahman and Andrzej Wawryzk.

Povetkin's next fight is the biggest of his career as he looks to break the Klitschko brothers' stranglehold on the division. He faces IBO/IBF/WBO/WBA Super World Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko LIVE on BoxNation on October 5th.
