Commonwealth Middleweight Champion (2012 -

British Southern Area Middleweight Champion (2011 - present)
28th April 2012 - TKO win over Tony Hill
Billy Joe Saunders is a young British southpaw with a big future in the fight game.
Saunders highly impressive amateur record saw him win 49 bouts consecutive at senior level which earned him the right to fight for a spot at the Beijing Olympics. Saunders finished in third spot at the European qualifiers in Pescara, Italy, in March 2008, making him the first athlete from a Romany Gypsy background to compete for Great Britain at the Olympics. Saunders was eliminated in the second round by Cuban Carlos Banteaux in the welterweight category.
The Hertfordshire-born fighter returned home to become a professional fighter and has since gone on to record 13 straight wins, including nine knockouts.
Saunders' most recent fight - where he replaced Nathan Cleverly
as headline act - saw him score a first round TKO against Tony Hill
for the vacant Commonwealth Middleweight Championship live from the
Royal Albert Hall on BoxNationTV.
He next stages a Commonwealth Championship defence against Bradley
Pryce live on BoxNation on June 1st.
