Eric "Little Hands of Steel" Morel is a Puerto Rican bantamweight and former WBA World Champion at flyweight.

The 37-year-old enjoyed a successful amateur career, including winning the 1994 National Golden Gloves competition at light flyweight and travelling to the 1996 Olympics with the US team.

Morel turned professional in 1996 and won his first 33 bouts, including his WBA World Flyweight Championship win. He defended this belt five times before losing to Lorenzo Parra, which left his career record at 33 - 1.

A second career defeat followed in 2005 when Morel lost on a unanimous decision when challenging Martin Castillo for the WBA World Super Flyweight Championship.

Following the defeat, a now 35 - 2 Morel took a near three year hiatus from the ring. He made his return in 2008 and has since recorded 10 straight wins, securing the WBO Intercontinental and Interim WBO World Bantamweight belts along the way.

Morel's next fight sees him take on Abner Mares LIVE on BoxNationTV for the WBC Silver Bantamweight title. The fight, on the Moreno vs. De la Mora undercard, will take place on April 21st from Cancun, Mexico.
