33-year-old Danish legend Mikkel "Viking Warrior" Kessler is the current WBC World Silver Light Heavyweight Champion and a former three-time World Champion at Super Middleweight.
He began his professional career in 1998 and put together a run of 29 wins before earning a first title fight - a successful challenge for the vacant IBA Super Middleweight crown against Dingaan Thobela in 2002.
This was just the start of Kessler's championship wins; he followed his IBA success with a further nine wins, encompassing the WBC International and WBA Super Middleweight Championships.
In November 2007, the Viking Warrior succumbed to a first loss after he travelled to the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff, for a massive unification bout with Joe Calzaghe. In defeat, Kessler relinquished his WBC and WBA titles.
The imposing Dane returned with successive wins, regaining the WBA Super Middleweight Championship in June 2008. The Copenhagen-born fighter lost this belt once more, this time to American Andre Ward, in November 2009.
As he's done before, Kessler returned to instant success. He
beat Carl Froch in April 2010 to win the WBC World Super
Middleweight Championship. The Dane then added the EBU belt in June
2011.
Kessler stepped up to light heavyweight for his most recent fight,
where he beat Allan Green with a fourth round KO LIVE on
BoxNationTV in May 2012.
