British Featherweight Champion (2008 - 2009)
10th March 2012 - UD win over Stephen Ormond
Paul Appleby is an Edinburgh-born super featherweight currently based in South Queensferry, Scotland.
Appleby rose to prominence in 2008 when - at the age of 20 - he became the youngest ever British Featherweight Champion.
The young Scotsman had turned professional two years earlier and started in the fight game with an impressive 14 straight wins, including his British Championship win.
Appleby suffered the first of three career defeats in 2009 as he lost his British Featherweight belt to Martin Lindsay.
The Scottish fighter returned with back-to-back wins in 2010 which earned him a shot at the vacant WBO Intercontinental Featherweight Championship against Joseph Laryea.
Appleby lost this encounter in December 2010 and, after beating Youssef Al Hamidi in his following fight, suffered a third career loss in September 2011 against Liam Walsh for the Commonwealth Super Featherweight Championship.
