Reigning WBA World Heavyweight Champ Alexander Povetkin successfully defends his title after knocking out the experienced American challenger Cedric Boswell in the 8th round.
After a tentative start from both fighters, Povetkin began to find his rhythm in the 4th round, and in the 6th stepped in to sting the defensive Boswell with a flurry of jabs and right hooks.
After the fight, the Russian champ was asked a familiar question - when will he fight one of the Klitschko brothers? The answer was promising if non-committal - "I really want this fight to happen...the Ukrainians are great athletes."
The power of the undefeated meets the force of experience in this clash between former kickboxer Alexander Povetkin and experienced powerhouse Cedric Boswell. Can the latter's wisdom in the ring stop what has been a storming start to Povetkin's boxing career?
Povetkin enters this fight off the back of a Heavyweight Championship victory against Ruslan Chagaev in August. His strengths lie in his fast speed for a heavyweight, thanks to his previous experience as a kickboxer. However, even at 43, Boswell's speed should not be underestimated, with his impressive KO record set to unnerve Povetkin in this title defence.
