Undefeated Welterweight World Champions Keith Thurman and Danny Garcia meet in a unification clash on March 4th, in one of the most anticipated fights of 2017, live on BoxNation.
Thurman’s WBA crown and Garcia’s WBC strap are on the line in a match-up between two fighters in their prime and who are amongst the best in their weight-class. The fight will take place in New York, with the venue to be confirmed.
Florida fighter Thurman (27-0, 22 KOs) lifted his World Title in March 2015, with a unanimous decision over Robert Guerrero and has since made two successful defences against Luis Collazo and Shawn Porter.
The gruelling win over former IBF Champion Porter was one of the fights of 2016 which paved the way for this mouth watering showdown. It took place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, a possible venue for this bout.
‘One Time’ earned a reputation as a heavy-hitter, stopping 18 of his first 20 opponents, but even though his last TKO victory came in 2013, he still packs power.
Garcia (33-0, 19 KOs) is a two-weight World Champion. He lifted the WBC Super-Lightweight Title in 2012 after beating Erik Morales, and his stock began to grow as he made five successful defences against the likes of Amir Khan, Zab Judah and Lucas Matthysse.
The 28-year-old stepped up to Welterweight in August 2014 and in January of this year he also defeated Guerrero to become a World Champion.
There has been plenty of hype for an all-American World Title tussle with Thurman and Garcia for a while now. A win in this 50/50 clash could certainly propel the victor into the top 10 pound-for-pound fighters on the planet.
