The unbeaten Kazakh retains his IBO and WBA World Middleweight Championships with a bruising third round KO, extending his record to 23 - 0 with 20 knockout wins.
Golovkin got to work early, opening up a cut over Fuchigami's right eye with a powerful right-hander. The World Champ scored brutal knockdowns in both the second and the third before referee Ignacio Martinez took pity on the Japanese journeyman and waved the contest off with just over a minute left in the third.
Unbeaten WBA World Middleweight Champion Gennady Golovkin attempts to defend his title against the hard working Makoto Fuchigami. The two will also contest Golovkin's IBO Middleweight crown as he puts it all on the line.
Live from Brovari, Ukraine, Saturday 12th May, Fuchigami will fight outside his native Japan for the first time, in what is also his first World title contest.
We'll bring you all the action LIVE and EXCLUSIVE on BoxNationTV.

Soro12th May 2012
Tough Russian light middleweight Zaurbek Baysangurov showed plenty of heart and determination as he recovered from a second round knockdown to retain his WBO World title.
For challenger Michel Soro, 22, defeat tarnishes an otherwise unblemished record, which now reads 18 - 1.
The Frenchman can take great credit from the bout, as he tested Baysangurov for the duration of the fight, rocking him, in particular, in the fifth round with a violent uppercut.
Soro tired, however, into the late rounds, perhaps demonstrating the fact that he is still a part-time fighter. Baysangurov used his superior conditioning to his advantage, enjoying the lion's share of the latter stages of the fight.
And so to the scorecards it went, with all three judges siding with the Russian World Champ, posting scores of 115 - 113, 117 - 111, 116 - 111.
Out of the ring since July last year, reigning IBO and WBO World Champion Zaurbek Baysangurov makes his eagerly anticipated return on Saturday 12th May LIVE ON BoxNationTV.
Standing before him is one of the middleweight division's hottest up and comers, 18 - 0 Frenchman Michel Soro. The Russian champion has been beaten before, when he suffered a TKO defeat to Cornelius Bundrage in 2008.
The two men will go head to head in a World title double-header, along with Gennady Golovkin and Makoto Fuchigami's fight, LIVE and EXCLUSIVE on BoxNationTV.
