People's favourite Miguel Cotto gets revenge on tough-talking Antonio Margarito.
This much-hyped grudge match was always going to be a fierce competition, after underdog Margarito won the pair's first meeting three years ago, and was later embroiled in controversy after being found guilty of wearing loaded gloves against 'Sugar' Shane Mosley.
This was a close and punishing rematch. In the closing rounds, Cotto targeted his opponent's injured right eye with precision until the ringside doctor ruled that Margarito was in no fit state to continue.
Sparks are sure to fly in the match between these bitter rivals in Madison Square Gardens. Cotto will be after blood for the loss of his title in 2008, where he suffered a TKO at the hands of an impressive Margarito in Las Vegas, in what was an intense fight.
With Cotto vowing to correct his previous mistakes, and his opponent having just recovered from an eye operation, will he be too much for Margarito this time?
Cotto has pride at stake - formerly being the undefeated welterweight champion - yet Margarito too has his grievances, sure to crank up the tension, following his ban in 2009 after accusations of tampered handwraps, which Cotto believes were used on him too. This will undoubtedly be a fight to remember, with both individuals putting in famously tireless performances for boxers of their welterweight class.
