American Tony Thompson was no match for Ukrainian multiple Heavyweight World Champion Wladimir Klitschko.
The reigning WBO, WBA Super, IBF and IBO belt-holder was in control for the six round duration of the contest. He dropped his opponent with a fierce body blow at the end of the fifth before finishing the fight off the following round.
The win takes Klitschko to 16 consecutive bouts undefeated and means he retains his stranglehold on the heavyweight division.
Wladimir Klitschko is set, once again, for a World title defence against American veteran Tony Thompson.
The two last met in 2008, when Klitschko took a powerhouse 11th round knockout with the IBF, IBO and WBO belts on the line.
Wladimir Klitschko has been one of the most dominant forces in heavyweight boxing since the turn of the century. The imposing Ukrainian has enjoyed the last four years as a heavyweight World Champion after winning the WBO World title in February 2008.
Since then he has successfully defended his strap against the likes of Ruslan Chagaev, Jean Marc Mormeck and, most memorably, David Haye.
He's also already defended his belts against Tony Thompson, and will look to secure a second win over the durable southpaw.
And now they meet again, LIVE and EXCLUSIVE on BoxNationTV July 7th in Berne, Switzerland.
