The IBO World Welterweight Title

Undefeated IBO Welterweight Champion Thulani Mbenge (14-0, 11 KOs) looks to defend his title for the first time against former IBF World Champion Miguel Vazquez (40-6, 15 KOs) this Saturday evening on BoxNation.

One of Africa’s brightest prospect in years, Mbenge is a devastating puncher with 14 victories in only 61 rounds of professional boxing.

In his latest outing, he stopped former interim WBA World Welterweight titlist Diego Chaves in the seventh to claim the IBO belt.

Now ranked number 9 with the WBC, Mbenge hopes to continue his rise to the top of the division with a victory over his vastly experienced opponent.

For Vazquez, that experience should provide his greatest hope of victory. The former World Champion was a mainstay among the Welterweights when he held the IBF Title with an iron grasp between 2010-2014.

In more recent times, the man known as 'El Titere' (The Puppet) has emerged as a dogged and dangerous gatekeeper, only losing once since 2016 to the high-flying Scotsman Josh Taylor.
