Ahead of the mouth-watering bout between Vasyl Lomachenko and Guillermo Rigondeaux this weekend, live on BoxNation, Glynn Evans asked the experts for their view.

Richie Woodhall, Adam Booth and Joe Gallagher all side with the Ukrainian to keep his WBO World Super-Featherweight Title.

Richie Woodhall (Ex WBC Super-Middleweight Champion)

It’s a genuine 50-50 but Lomachenko on points for me. The weight is the key advantage. They’re very similar technically and their skill level is in another league to everybody else.

Neither is ever in a slugfest so it won’t be a classic - more a chess match - but I’m looking forward to it. There’ll be shots from so many angles to appreciate.

Adam Booth (Trainer)

I think Lomachenko wins because he’s bigger, younger and at least as talented if not more so. He has a very unique skill set.

Both are so defensively brilliant that I can’t see either landing enough shots to force a stoppage so a points win would be the safe bet but it could be one-sided in terms of the score.

Joe Gallagher (Trainer)

I think it’s possible that Rigondeaux will deserve to win the fight – he’s that good – but there’s no way they’ll allow him to spoil the party and leave New York with the decision.

It’s gonna by a right good fight, a tactical chess match conducted at the very highest level. There’ll be slow periods, then it’ll explode into four, five, six quick moves, then settle again.

I’d like Rigondeaux to win. He’s so, so talented, a very hard lad to fight. He’s chased the biggest fights for years and deserves huge props for stepping up to weight divisions to secure his super fight against one of the very best fighters in the world. But, whether it’s merited or not, I think Lomachenko will be awarded the decision.
