At a media day to promote his upcoming fight with Joe Smith Jr, Bernard Hopkins sent the waiting boxing media into hysterics when he arrived in ‘disguise’ limping with a walking stick, grey beard and glasses.

The 51-year-old poked fun at himself with some corners of the media suggesting he doesn’t need this upcoming farewell fight to close his legacy.

Hopkins brings his long-standing career to an end on December 17th live on BoxNation against 27-year-old puncher Smith Jr.

Speaking to a packed room at the Joe Hand Boxing Gym in his hometown Philadelphia, the Future Hall-of-Famer revealed he’ll be keeping busy with various roles including commentating and taking a more prominent role in Golden Boy Promotions.

With his gloves soon to be shelved, Bhop plans to keep ticking over in the gym but has no plans to ship a right hand in 2017: "Nobody misses getting hit, getting punched. I'll still hit the bag but one thing about that bag, it don't hit back!”
