Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez plans to be ringside at the SSE Arena on Saturday night to support Horacio Garcia.
His Golden Boy Promotions stablemate and fellow Guadalajara native faces Carl Frampton on his return to Belfast, live on BoxNation.
Frampton makes his long-awaited homecoming in a 10-round Featherweight contest, ahead of proposed blockbuster bouts against the likes of Lee Selby, Leo Santa Cruz and Josh Warrington in 2018.
"It’s great that Canelo will be ringside, it will add even more of a buzz to what’s already one of Belfast’s biggest ever fight bills," Frampton told MTK Global.
"But as much as I respect Canelo he won’t have much to cheer about. Garcia is a good fighter and I’m not taking him lightly, but I have to beat him and I won’t be distracted from the task at hand."
Jamie Conlan is also pleased with the news, but remains focused on his World Title challenge against Jerwin Ancajas.
"I was a bit shocked when I heard Canelo will be there – it’s really exciting. I’ll have to wear the sombrero into the ring now," joked 'The Mexican'. "I’m fully focused on my job, though."
Paddy Barnes had this to say: "I’m not happy at all about it to be honest," he joked. "I’m meant to be the most famous ginger at this show! Canelo better be cheering on one of his own when I’m fighting."
