Future Hall of Famer Floyd Mayweather believes Canelo Alvarez should be looking elsewhere for his next bout rather than fighting Gennady Golovkin.

Mayweather, who picked up a majority decision victory over the flame haired Mexican back in September 2013, believes the reigning WBC World Champion is a level above the Kazakh KO King.

The 49-0 self-proclaimed ‘TBE’ revealed: “If I was Canelo’s promoter, I wouldn’t even fight Triple G. Canelo don’t need Triple G, Triple G needs Canelo.”

Speaking with ES News, Mayweather continued: “Look at different fighters… Sugar Ray Leonard he jumped different weight classes and stepped up. Floyd Mayweather, Felix Trinidad, Oscar De La Hoya and the list goes on and on.”

Canelo and Golovkin are currently in talks over a proposed Middleweight mega fight with three of the four recognised World Titles at 160 lbs on the line.

“GGG wants to stay at 160lbs, he ain’t showed me any heart yet,” concluded Floyd.
