Canelo Alvarez said he's confident that he can overcome Amir Khan's speed and skills to defend his WBC World Middleweight Title for the first time this Saturday night.

The 46-1-1 Mexican superstar, 25, told the gathered media in Las Vegas that he had worked hard to combat Khan's speed and elusiveness and that he was confident he would get a remarkable 47th career win.

"There's not much more to say. I'm very happy with the work I've done. Khan is very fast, elusive and tricky. I'm confident with the work that's been done that I can go in there and break him down," the flame-haired Mexican said.

Canelo is set to headline a Cinco De Mayo weekend show in Las Vegas for the first time in his career, and the proud Mexican made it clear he's on a mission to celebrate his national holiday in style this Saturday.

"I'm just anxious for Saturday so that we can all yell from the top of our lungs 'Viva Mexico!'"
