As Canelo Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr squared off at their first press conference in Mexico City, it was clear to see the height difference between the two.

6’1” Chavez looked down on Canelo, who is listed as 5’9” in which is sure to be one of the main talking points in the build up to May 6th’s showdown.

The fight has been made a catchweight of 164.5lbs with severe sanction penalties in place should either fighter come in heavy.

A whopping $1 million, per pound ruling is in place if Canelo or Chavez tips over the weight limit which would make a large dent their purse.

After recently fighting at 168lbs, Chavez must now cut down to a weight he hasn’t fought at since 2012.

Chavez has ramped up his training and looks to be motivated for this mouth-watering contest.

The much anticipated Mexican showdown is up at a new weight for Canelo, who revealed in the press conference he has started to use heavier sparring partners in the build-up to adjust to what Chavez will bring on fight night.
