Canelo Alvarez's trainer Chepo Reynoso has labelled Liam Smith as a dangerous opponent when they collide in September for Smith's WBO World Title.
The experienced Mexican trainer who, along with his son Eddy, has looked after Canelo throughout his professional career, told a London press conference that Canelo will prepare for Liam Smith like no other opponent before.
"We’re here to announce a big fight. Between the World Champion Liam Smith, a great fighter, and a great, great fighter in Canelo as well.
"It’s going to be a big fight between two big fighters. We have on one side a champion who wants to defend his title. And obviously we know that he wants to come to the United States to defend his title. Beating Canelo will signify he’s on top of the world," said Chepo.
"Despite [Liam Smith's] good chin, his power and all that. Knowing that he can be the best, the eagerness for this fight makes him even more dangerous.
"That’s why we’re going to prepare like never before."
Smith's trainer Joe Gallagher fired shots at Team Canelo during the same press conference, telling them they'd made a mistake choosing to fight Liam Smith over Gennady Golovkin.
