*Note: WBC title on the line for Canelo Alvarez only, after Cotto allegedly failed to pay a WBC sanctioning fee.

Miguel Cotto has guaranteed "total victory" over Canelo Alvarez when they meet in a hotly-anticipated WBC World Middleweight title showdown on November 21.

Cotto and Canelo

Puerto Rico’s only four-weight world champion Cotto, who turned 35 this week, was in confident mood as he predicted a second middleweight title defence against the 45-1-1 flame-haired Mexican.

"Freddie [Roach] will make the plan leading to success. I have but one thing on my mind, and that’s about bringing security to my family, with their future at stake, so I’m going to give my absolute and utmost best.

"On November 21st we will have victory!"

Canelo is 10 years Cotto’s junior, and will enter this huge middleweight clash – which will be fought at a 155lbs catch weight – as the marginal favourite with the bookies.

A resurgent Cotto has bounced back from consecutive defeats against Floyd Mayweather and Austin Trout to win and defend the WBC title, seeing off Argentine legend Sergio Martinez before defending against Australian Daniel Geale.

Canelo enters the Cotto bout off impressive wins over Alfredo Angulo, Erislandy Lara and James Kirkland as he, too, looked to reply to his only career loss at the hands of Floyd Mayweather.
