Darryll Williams' enthralling win over Jahmaine Smyle on April 22nd is a contender for the British Boxing Board of Control's 2016/17 Fight of the Year.
After 10 brutal rounds of back-and-forth action, Williams won the English Super-Middleweight Title at the Leicester Arena.
Posting on his Instagram, 'Ferocious' wrote: "I have been nominated for fight of the year by the British Boxing Board Of Control. Some things don't go unnoticed in life thank you."
Both boxers left everything in the ring and the fans showed their appreciation at the final bell. Williams, who took his record to 16-0, won courtesy of a split decision, with scores of 97-93, 95-96 98-93.
Fans called for a rematch and on July 8th, Williams edged another tight tussle on the scorecards, this time at the Copper Box Arena in London.
Last year, the accolade went to Jamie Conlan v Anthony Nelson for their thrilling battle in April 2016 as Conlan picked up the Commonwealth Super-Flyweight Title.
