Shohjahon Ergashev's promoter Dmitriy Salita is hoping the unbeaten Super-Lightweight puncher will face Josh Taylor in 2020.
Ergashev returns to BoxNation screens on Friday 17th January on the 250th edition of ShoBox: The New Generation.
As an amateur the southpaw had a 202-14 record, and as a pro he's torn through 17 opponents, stopping 14, with nine of those knockouts coming in the opening round.
"Ergashev looked spectacular in his last fight in August and I expect better on January 17th. He now not only has power, but also the ring IQ to deliver it in the most precise way," Salita told Sky Sports earlier this month.
"He and Josh Taylor would be a spectacular fight in which I would expect Ergashev to shine as the new star in the division."
Taylor recently unified the WBA and IBF World Titles at 140lbs in a thrilling win over Regis Prograis. After signing with Top Rank this week, the Scot is chasing a four belt unification with Jose Ramirez.
Ergashev may have to wait until later this year before challenging for world honours, but Salita is confident he has what it takes to become a World Champion with the heavy-handed Uzbek ranked at 6 in the WBA and IBF.
"I feel Ergashev is the best Super-Lightweight in the world. He has grown leaps and bounds and added new dimensions to his game training at the Kronk Gym with Sugarhill Steward," added the Brooklyn-based promoter.
Watch unbeaten prospects Shohjahon Ergashev and Vladimir Shishkin in action live on BoxNation from 3am on Friday night.
