Unified Super-Lightweight Champion Terence Crawford is “real excited” for his upcoming World Title defence against Felix Diaz live on BoxNation, Saturday 20th May.
The switch-hitting sensation meets Olympic gold medallist Diaz at ‘The Mecca of Boxing’ Madison Square Garden in New York, with Crawford’s WBO and WBC belts on the line.
Speaking at the fight announcement press conference, the pound for pound star explained: “It’s gonna be a real fun night!”
‘Bud’ added the WBC strap to his WBO crown after impressively outpointing Viktor Postol last July and then made a successful defence against John Molina Jr before the turn of the year.
Dominican Republic native Diaz has been vocal in the build up to the fight insisting Crawford is running scared but the 30-0 American insists that is simply not the case.
Crawford added at the press conference: “I’m real excited for this fight, I’m up for it. I’ve been reading what people have been sending me for the last couple of days, telling me this guy said I’m scared of him and I’m ducking him.
“But everybody knows Terence Crawford ducks no one,” stated the Omaha star, who has been linked to fights with Manny Pacquiao and Adrien Broner.
Southpaw Diaz struck gold at the 2008 Beijing Games and now boasts a 19-1 professional record, the only blemish on his otherwise perfect record was a close majority decision defeat to Lamont Peterson back in October 2015.
