Jean Pascal has revealed it was love at first sight with new trainer Freddie Roach.
After leaving his native Canada, Pascal flew out to trial life under the legendary trainer admitting: “The first time I did pads with Freddie I saw the difference.”
Speaking with ESNews ahead of his rematch against Sergey Kovalev, the 33 year old revealed: “He was my first choice, after my first session I felt he was my man!”
The former WBC World Light-Heavyweight Champion believes the adjustments Roach has bought to his game will be telling come Saturday night.
“It’s going to be a great fight, what Sergey brings I’m sure this time we’ll be able to keep up with it.”
Kovalev has previously declared his intention to put in an exact performance to their first contest which ended in an eighth round stoppage victory, something that Pascal believes is just all talk.
“He’s not super smart but he’s not dumb as well! He won’t come with the same game plan.”
When quizzed about who has landed the most powerful blow during Pascal’s 11 year pro career to date, ‘Krusher’ was ranked in second place.
“The most powerful man I’ve fought is Carl Froch then Sergey in second.”
