Terry Flanagan is remaining focused ahead of his third WBO World Lightweight Title defence against the experienced Mzonke Fana this Saturday night live on BoxNation.

Speaking at yesterday’s pre-fight press conference, the unbeaten 135lbs king revealed: “People are expecting big things from me, I’m looking to show that. It’s going to be a tough fight, he’s a former two time World Champion.”

When quizzed on preparation, Flanagan has left the studying of his opponent to his team.

“I’m not really one to look at footage, there’s bits on him on the internet. I’ll just get in there and take the fight as it comes building on the first round.”

Victory for Flanagan opens the door for a potential World Title unification bout with current WBC Champion Dejan Zlaticanin.

“There’s talk of big fights out there, I’ve got to deal with this one first and then we can look at them,” explained ‘Turbo’.

Andy Ayling from Queensberry Promotions confirmed negotiations are on-going: “We are talking on a daily basis to Lou DiBella, I believe he’s got to deal with it his end. The terms are pretty much agreed, it’s just if his fighter wants to come here and fight Terry Flanagan. It’s positive all round.”

The man looking to gate-crash Flanagan’s hopes of unifying the division is South African Mzonke Fana who stated: “I come here with a mission and vision of winning a World Title for the third time. I respect Terry as a World Champion but come Saturday 16th July we will see. I’m here to win the Title!”
