World Lightweight Champion Terry Flanagan has been named the World Boxing Organisation's European fighter of the year at the WBO convention in Orlando, Florida.
Earlier this month Flanagan sensationally demolished mandatory challenger Diego Magdaleno in two rounds, earning praise from all corners of the sporting fraternity.
In his first World Title defence since capturing the vacant title against Jose Zepeda in July, 'Turbo' dropped Magdaleno on three occasions before the stoppage, landing one of the crispest uppercuts you'll see all year in the process to hurt the game challenger.
Victory for Flanagan topped a fantastic night for British boxing after Liam Smith captured the vacant WBO Junior-Middleweight crown knocking out John Thompson.
'Beefy' will be hoping to emulate Flanagan's award this time next year.
Further success followed at the WBO convention with Frank Warren picking up the 'European promoter of the year' award and Queensberry Promotions Matchmaker Jason McClory was named 'European Matchmaker of the year' after putting together some fantastic fights in the last calendar year.
One of those fights included Frank Buglioni and Lee Markham’s ten round war, which was named the WBO European fight of the Year.
Congratulations to Terry, Frank, Jason, Frank and Lee! Here’s to a prosperous 2016.
