Sergey Kovalev retained his World Light-Heavyweight Titles against the durable Isaac Chilemba on Monday night to bring the super-fight with Andre Ward one step closer.

The ‘Krusher’ failed to look his usual destructive self, whether he suffered some mental scars from fighting in the same arena for the first time since tragedy struck or if Chilemba just was too tricky, his latest display may have swayed some opinions over the huge fight that continues to brew.

The Russian will undoubtedly put in the extra work in camp and will surely be more motivated for one of the best and fellow pound for pound fighters.

King Kov kept his side of the bargain, all eyes now switch to Andre Ward who fights Alexander Brand in Oakland on August 6th. Victory for the unbeaten American will set up the mouth-watering super-fight.
