Danny Garcia is counting down the minutes until his clash against Robert Guerrero at the Staples Center this Saturday night, live on BoxNation.
Speaking at his pre-fight media day the 27 year old refused to look past ‘The Ghost’ and discuss future fights, insisting: "I'm just focused on Robert Guerrero because at the end of the day, that's the task in front of me.”
The bout recently received a welcome boost with the vacant WBC World Welterweight Championship now on the line and Amir Khan installed as the mandatory challenger.
"It's almost impossible to predict the future in boxing. That's why I don't get ahead of myself,” revealed Garcia, who previously beat Khan back in July 2012.
"I've worked hard to get to where I am today. It's just about taking it one fight at a time,” who admitted he wouldn't be too keen on a trip to the U.K.
After three consecutive non-title fights, the Philadelphia native was pleased to be fighting for World honours once more.
"I knew the opportunities would come and that I'd be fighting for a title eventually. There's nothing like a championship fight, it's just a different atmosphere.”
Garcia’s colourful Father, Angel admitted the team were happy to be on the same page after moving up a weight.
"Danny had his mind on 147 for a while. We should have gone right to 147 after Matthysse but I wanted him to take his time. We're where we want to be now."
