This Saturday the wait for the fight of the decade will finally be over, and World Middleweight Champion Gennady Golovkin is confident fans will not be left disappointed.

After years of negotiations Canelo Alvarez and Golovkin face-off in a colossal clash for the WBC, IBF and WBA ‘Super’ World Titles.

Few people are more excited for the bout than ‘Triple G’ himself as he explained to Fight Hub TV: “It’s been difficult [to wait so long for this fight], right now I’m very excited. I believe this time is best for us, for business, for boxing, for the fans.”

This will be Canelo’s second bout at 160lbs or over (the limit for the Julio Cesar Chavez Jr fight was 164.5lbs). He looks to have gained a significant amount of muscle in preparation for Golovkin.

When asked about his opponent’s gradual transformation, Golovkin remained focused on what he had to do to combat Canelo’s added weight.

“He brings more power, stability. I know my job, maybe he’s heavier and maybe he’s slower right now but I know my job and I know my work! [I want] a dominant performance in this fight.”

If ‘GGG’ were to win this fight it would be the biggest win of his career and cement his legacy in boxing, but he has no thoughts about retiring. “No. I love my boxing, I’m a professional athlete. My body will work for the future. My mentality is very strong,” and when pushed about the outcome on Saturday night he promised “a big gift” to all the fans.
