IBF World Super-Featherweight Champion Gervonta Davis is counting down the days until his first professional fight overseas.

The promising American is widely tipped to follow in the footsteps of his promoter Floyd Mayweather and climb the pound-for-pound rankings.

Davis makes the first defence of his newly won World Title against unbeaten Liam Walsh at the Copperbox Arena on Saturday 20th May.

Speaking exclusively to BadCulture.net’s radio station, ‘The Tank’ could barely hide his excitement in fighting in London: “The press conference was great, they treated me well. I’m excited to fight over there!”

With 16 of his 17 victories coming inside the distance, the explosive southpaw knows he must overcome Walsh in order to live up to his ever building hype: “If I want to be the next star in boxing, I have to win!”

The 22-year-old handed Jose Pedraza his first career defeat with a seventh round stoppage back in January to land his first World Title.

With Walsh earning mandatory status to challenge for the title following a landslide impressive decision victory over Andrey Klimov, Davis’ first defence was locked in to be the Cromer hero.

“After that Pedraza fight I had to fight him so I’m excited to see how it is. It was the best business for me.”
