The IBF and 'Super' WBA Middleweight Champion Gennady Golovkin is eyeing a unification clash after his next fight.

Golovkin locks horn with IBF mandatory challenger Dominic Wade live on BoxNation on Saturday 23 April, hoping the fight is the last hurdle before some big showdowns in the summer.

“He’s a good prospect, it’s not an easy fight for me. I’m very serious and my focus is on Dominic Wade,” explained the Kazakh KO King.

After victory over David Lemieux back in October, both GGG and the flame haired Canelo were granted an extension to take an interim fight before their mandated clash of the titans with three versions of the World Middleweight Title on the line.

“Every fight is very important. I hope Wade is my first step, my second step I hope for a unification against maybe Saunders or of course Canelo,” revealed Golovkin who was speaking with Steve Kim at UCN.

Billy Joe Saunders holds the missing piece of the jigsaw for Golovkin, the WBO World Middleweight Title crown.

The winner of May 7’s fight between Canelo and Amir Khan has a short time frame to declare their intentions to fight Golovkin, or be stripped of the WBC belt: “I’ll wait for the Canelo fight, I have two weeks the WBC said. I want three or four fights per year.”

Unbeaten Saunders has his own World Title defence against ‘Mad’ Max Bursak to contend with on April 30 before waiting for the outcome of the Golovkin/Canelo/Khan triangle to unfold.
