Fresh from announcing the biggest fight in the division, Liam Smith is counting down the days until he locks horns with Canelo Alvarez.
After Canelo and Golovkin agreed to delay their mammoth matchup until “the fall of 2017”, September 17’s bout sees the flame haired Mexican challenge for Liam’s WBO World Super-Welterweight Title.
‘Beefy’ took to his Twitter page to respond to one fight fan insisting:
@merenelo giving me a opportunity? He's coming for MY title, he's not giving me nothing.— Liam Smith (@LiamBeefySmith) June 27, 2016
Alvarez, who has previously held the WBA and WBC version of the 154 lbs World Title aims to be the first man to beat Smith.
Two successful World Title defences from the Merseyside maverick have set up this intriguing contest in America with Smith on a run of eight consecutive stoppage wins.
