Legendary Trainer Freddie Roach has paved the way for a mammoth rematch between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

Roach masterminded Pacquiao’s victory over Jessie Vargas last Saturday night to win the WBO World Welterweight crown live on BoxNation, before switching his attention to a potential return with Mayweather.

When quizzed by FightHub who is the preferred next opponent for Pacquiao, the Wild Card Gym ace responded: “Floyd. I want that one back so bad!”

Promoter Bob Arum is keen for Pacquiao to fight either Vasyl Lomchenko or Terence Crawford if the Mayweather rematch cannot be made but Roach insists it’s too early to map out the Filipino’s next move.

“We haven’t talked about it yet, we don’t know at this point but hopefully it’s Floyd.”

One name quashed by Roach was Amir Khan: “What happened to him in last fight? That’s as far as we have to go.”

Asked if balancing his Senate duties with boxing could be a hindrance to Pacquiao’s future training camps, the Hall of Fame trainer revealed: “Manny’s always been doing stuff outside of boxing! He likes to stay busy. I think it’s good for him, it makes him hungry.”
