Andre Ward is keeping focused on Alexander Brand as a proposed showdown with Sergey Kovalev looms.

At the traditional media day to promote the fight, Ward revealed he’s studied the experienced Colombian during his preparations.

“I know enough, he’s got everything to gain and nothing to lose which makes him a dangerous guy to fight.”

Brand has just the one career defeat, a split decision defeat to Badou Jack back in 2012.

Despite Brand’s 25-1 (19 KO) record, Ward is a heavy favourite and has played down reports he’s overlooking Brand to the proposed super-fight in November.

“In this business you can’t afford to have a bad night, how can I afford to take him lightly?”

Terms have been reportedly agreed for November 19th in Las Vegas and with Kovalev keeping his side of the bargain with a recent points win over Isaac Chilemba the attention now flips to Ward.

Speaking to SecondsOut, the unbeaten pound for pound star believes he is more than comfortable at his new weight: “I feel good! I’m a little bit happier in fight week. Training is still the same, with slight differences. It’s rough making weight, I’m getting older!”
