Fight preview

It’s an intriguing clash of styles, power v speed. Who can prevail and take home the coveted WBC World Middleweight Championship?

Amir Khan is the underdog for the first time in his career up against the flame haired Mexican, who has just one defeat on his 48 fight record.

The defending Champion, who is still only 25 years old, has come on leaps and bounds since his sole defeat to Floyd Mayweather back in September 2013.

Canelo v Khan

In the opposing corner, Khan has racked up five wins on the spin since defeat to Danny Garcia nearly four years ago.

Several big fights with the likes of Mayweather and Pacquiao have escaped from Khan’s grasp, but this is the next big thing, arguably a tougher fight against a naturally bigger man.

The challenger moves up to an agreed 155 lb catchweight which is one of the subplots to this mouth-watering super fight.

Undercard

Middleweight puncher David Lemieux returns, some six months after his unification fight with Gennady Golovkin to fight Glen Tapia.

Frankie Gomez challenges Mauricio Herrera in which could be one of the fights of the night whilst Patrick Teixeira fights the experienced Curtis Stevens.

‘The Golden Kid’ Diego De La Hoya, cousin of promoter and future Hall of Famer Oscar, looks to continue his unbeaten rise in the pro ranks.
