There’s been an added twist ahead of Saturday’s teratology matchup between Marco Huck and Ola Afolabi which could have some bearing on the outcome of the fight.
As mentioned by BoxNation’s Steve Lillis during the Chudinov v Sturm coverage at the weekend, Huck has sensationally axed trainer Konny Mittermeier just a week ahead of the fight.
Mittermeier, a former pro in the 1980’s was installed to guide Huck’s career back in December but has been chopped after just two months.
It continues the merry-go-round for Huck’s team after leaving renowned trainer Ulli Wegner when parting ways with the Sauerland’s and more recently Don House who was at the helm during Huck’s defeat to Krzysztof Glowacki and subsequently changed.
Varol Vekiloglu, who assisted Mittermeier previously, will run the corner on Saturday night but it’s unclear if this is a full time switch.
Fans may recall Vekiloglu from recent fights against Firat Arslan and Krzysztof Glowacki Glowacki, both in 2013.
