Andre Ward secured a date with Sergey Kovalev after his landslide points victory over Alexander Brand.
The brand new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas has been earmarked as the venue for the Light-Heavyweight showdown to determine the number one at the weight.
After his victory on Saturday night, Ward and Kovalev came face to face in front of the TV cameras.
“I’m excited, I’m looking forward to it. I had to get past this step, he got past his so I’ll see you in November!” stated the American.
Ward continued: “I’ve been doing this 22 years, if I’m not ready to fight the best now I’ll never be ready! I’ve been preparing for this since I’ve been a kid. Of course I’m ready!”
Both fighters believe the winner of November 19’s super-fight would throw their name into the hat as boxing’s pound for pound best.
“You have to respect Sergey, he’s not had many soft touches. The winner of the fight could possibly be number one, “ explained Ward, to which the big punching Russian agreed.
