WBO World Bantamweight Champion Zolani Tete defends his title against Siboniso Gonya on the Carl Frampton card on November 18th.

Tete’s first title defence against Gonya provides the perfect stage for the South African to display his skills in front of a sellout crowd. ‘Last Born’ is supremely confident in his abilities, as he explained to The Times Live.

“I haven’t seen much of Gonya, but I think he’s not ready for me. Because he’s South African I’m going to give him four [rounds]...I’m being generous, I’m being kind,” he laughed.

Despite predicting he’d stop his opponent after just four rounds the silky southpaw insists he is not underestimating the 11-1 challenger.

“I always take my opponent very seriously‚ especially if he’s rated in the world rankings. But unfortunately he’s not going to take my title away - I’m going to knock him out,” he predicted.

Tete is up for the ‘South Africa Sports Award’ (on November 19th) which he will be hoping to win, but he’s also chasing another prize after making it clear in other interviews that he wants a shot at Ryan Burnett’s WBA and IBF World Titles.
