Amir Khan believes fighting Canelo Alvarez on Saturday 7 May, live on BoxNation, is a tougher feat than fighting Manny Pacquiao.
“I’ve been let down too many times, those fights didn’t happen so I had to go and fight someone else who is up there. Alvarez is probably one of the best fighters out there in this day and age. He’s at his peak,” revealed Khan.
When quizzed by Kugan Cassius if the fighter is more difficult than facing Pacquiao, Khan responsed: “Oh yes, it’s very tough!”
Fights against the likes of Kell Brook and Gennady Golovkin, who is mandated to fight the winner of May 7’s mega fight are on the horizon but Khan is focused on the job at hand.
“I’m not looking past this fight. I’ve made that mistake before. We’re fully focused on Alvarez and we’re ready for him!” revealed the 29 year old.
Much has been made of Canelo’s punching power but the former two time World Champion insists he has the tools to make it a treble.
“This is going to be a very hard fight but that’s where I belong. I can’t lose focus for one second, if I do – I could get hurt badly. I have to box, use my skills and speed,” concluded ‘King’ Khan.
