Respected trainer Robert Garcia has heard through the grapevine preparation is going to plan for Team Khan in the build up for May 7’s huge fight against Canelo Alvarez.

Speaking with FightHype, the 2011 Ring Magazine trainer of the year revealed: “I talked to people very close to that training camp over there with Khan, they told me that things are going very, very well.”

Garcia, a former Super-Featherweight World Champion, believes Khan has the attributes to worry the defending Champion.

“He’s big, he’s fast and he has the power. It should be a good fight!”

When prompted for a prediction, Garcia edged towards the flame haired Mexican.

“Canelo is always going to be the favourite, but I don’t think it’s going to be easy. I think Khan will give him some trouble but eventually Canelo wins.”

Victory for Canelo would potentially set up the mandated clash against Gennady Golovkin, should the unified IBF and ‘Super’ WBA Champion come through his next fight with Dominic Wade, though Garcia believes it won’t happen next.

“It’s business. Golden Boy have Canelo who makes them millions with every fight. Why would they risk it against someone like Golovkin? GGG is too dangerous right now. I don’t see that fight happening until 2018. People will still wait for that. Canelo will only get better with age.”
