WBO World Super-Welterweight Champion Liam Smith has had visions of stopping Canelo Alvarez late into the fight.

Going into the fight as the bookies underdog, Smith is under no illusions he probably needs to score a knockout to retain his crown.

“We’re going there to win by stoppage to be honest. That’s the plan I’ve got in mind, if anything else comes I’ll take it. I’ve got visions of stopping him down the stretch. We’ll take a win no matter what round or if it’s a points decision.”

Like Smith’s premonition, trainer Joe Gallagher is also backing a late stoppage.

“I’ve had a couple of thoughts in round ten like Joe for round twelve, but I’m not going to make a prediction. He’s probably visualised the fight in his head and dreamed of me doing it in round twelve, the same as me for round ten but all that goes to the back of your mind once we’re in fight mode,” revealed Beefy exclusively to BoxNation.

Canelo wiped out Amir Khan last time around but the Merseyside maverick believes there can be no comparisons made to his own style.

“We’re two different style fighters. He’s a World class fighter but he’s at 147lbs. Styles make fights also. I’m big enough, strong enough and good enough to beat Canelo!” stated the unbeaten star.
