Assuming he gets past Maxwell Awuku in Mexico this weekend, Miguel Berchelt plans to unify at Super-Featherweight.

On February 10th, the WBC World Champion makes the second defence of the belt he won just over a year ago against Francisco Vargas, live on BoxNation.

Awuku was a late replacement, as Berchelt was originally due to face Cristian Mijares. However 'The Scorpion' is confident he will put on a show regardless of who is in the opposing corner.

"For me it is a dream come true to fight in my hometown as a World Champion. I do not have a problem with the change of opponent. I think his style, going forward all the time, is good for my kind of boxing and the people will enjoy a great show," he told Ring TV.

"After this fight I want to come back to the U.S.A. to defend against my mandatory, Miguel Roman. Then I would love to unify against one of the other 130 pound champions, [Vasyl] Lomachenko, [Alberto] Machado or [Kenichi] Ogawa."

Lomachenko looks likely to be moving up in weight, and reportedly may face the winner of Ray Beltran v Paulus Moses or Jorge Linares.

Mario Abraham, President of Maxboxing Promotions, who co-promote Berchelt with Zanfer Promotions is excited for the Cancun fans to welcome home their hero: "The fight will be at Cancún Plaza de Toros (Bullfight Plaza) for almost 6,000 people and we expect to be sold out."
