Welsh warrior Enzo Maccarinelli has revealed it’s an honour to fight Roy Jones Jr in Moscow, live on BoxNation this Saturday from 4pm.
Speaking to Steve Lillis, the 35 year old admits he’s a fan of the man in the opposite corner come Saturday night.
“For me, he is boxing’s great. I’ve looked up to him from a young age. It’s an unbelievable opportunity for me,” revealed Enzo.
It’s not the first time Maccarinelli has been involved in a fight surrounding Jones.
He carried in friend Joe Calzaghe’s belts when the pair met in at Madison Square Garden, New York back in November 2008.
Despite having ten years on legend Jones, the former WBO World Champion believes the 46 year old is still a live opponent, “he’s still got quick hands, he can still bang a bit.”
Travelling East doesn’t faze Maccarinelli, who picked up a first round KO victory on his first outing in Russia against Alexander Kotlobay.
“The last time I went to Russia they thought I’m just there to make up the numbers which went well for me.”
