Sergey Kovalev has revealed his goal is to become the number one pound for pound fighter on the planet.

Speaking with FightHub at a media day to formally announce his huge fight with Andre Ward, the Russian banger explained: “You never know if you can win by KO or decision, it’s boxing. I’ll take my time. I will try to get the next victory and be the best pound for pound. It’s my goal, I’m going for my goal. I will do everything that I can to get my next victory over Andre Ward.”

Fans will be counting down until November 19th’s fight and the matchup has certainly got Krusher’s juices flowing too.

“I’m very excited for this fight, this is the highest level in the Light-Heavyweight division.”

The fight will mark Kovalev’s first headlining PPV card in the U.S which is sure to draw a lot more media commitments but the unified World Champion insists it’ll be business as usual.

“It’s nothing different, everything will be the same just this level of our fight is different.”

Looking back on his tune up fight against Isaac Chilemba, Kovalev revealed: “I was very happy to fight back in Russia, Chilemba is not an easy opponent. I didn’t know he could go all twelve rounds, he got knocked down but he’s a really good boxer and was in good shape.”
