Carl Frampton recently returned to the ring after a 10-month layoff to defeat tough Mexican Horacio Garcia in an exciting bout in Belfast. The former World Champion is now targeting the biggest fights going forward.
The ‘Jackal’ has a Windsor Park fight penciled in for summer 2018, potentially against the winner of Lee Selby v Josh Warrington if the Welshman can win on December 9th. In the meantime, Frampton may elect to fight before then.
One of the names mooted is Nonito Donaire, a four-weight World Champion and a notable scalp to add to the Irishman’s resume if he were to come out victorious. The Filipino-American tweeted at Frampton in response to the rumours.
“Carl Frampton, heard our teams have been talking. Couldn’t make this fight before but now [there] are no obstacles standing in the way. Greatest respect for you as a fighter. See you in the ring wherever you want the fight to be.” Donaire tweeted to the Champion.
It didn’t take long for Frampton to respond to the mouthwatering prospective clash on Twitter saying, “[It] would be a great fight Nonito.”
