In what promises to be one of the best domestic dust ups of the year, Liam Smith and Liam Williams will meet on Saturday 8th April at the Manchester Arena.
The huge Super-Welterweight showdown was confirmed at Monday’s press conference at the BT Tower with both fighters present.
There’s history between the two with Williams’ previously installed as mandatory challenger for Smith’s then British Title but the fight never materialised.
Speaking exclusively to BoxNation, ‘Beefy’ revealed: "He was my mandatory challenger for over 12 months, they wouldn't take the fight - It's Liam Williams’ fault I haven't got the British Title outright! But I'll settle that score when I beat him in April.”
On stage in front of the waiting media, Liverpudlian Smith acknowledged Williams is developing well but questioned if he is ready to step up to World level.
The hotly contest duel features on the undercard of Terry Flanagan’s WBO World Lightweight Title defence against Petr Petrov and the much anticipated professional debut of double Olympic Gold Medallist Nicola Adams.
Tickets are now on sale for the big show!
