Daniel Jacobs cannot win Gennady Golovkin’s IBF World Middleweight Title after declining to participate in the governing body’s same-day weigh-in on Saturday morning.

The American challenges Golovkin at Madison Sqaure Garden in New York tonight, exclusively live in the UK on BoxNation.

Should he defy the odds and become the first man to defeat the Kazakh, then he will be crowned WBC and WBA ‘Super’ World Middleweight ruler.

Lindsey Tucker, of the International Boxing Federation, said: “Golovkin is defending his IBF Title, however Jacobs cannot acquire the Title with a victory because he did not participate in the required IBF same-day weigh-in.”

Triple G, who boasts 33 KOs in 36 fights, weighed in at 169.6lbs. To retain or win a belt sanctioned by the IBF, a fighter must not weigh more than 10 pounds over the weight limit on a fight day weigh-in.
