Having only made one defence of his World Title since 2016, Jessie Magdaleno can't wait to face Isaac Dogboe on Saturday night.

The unbeaten Super-Bantamweights clash for Magdaleno's WBO belt in Philadelphia, live in the UK and Ireland on BoxNation.

"I’m mentally ready. I’m physically ready. Being here with [trainer] Manny Robles keeps me ready," said the Mexican-American. "The sparring has been great, but I get impatient sometimes and just want to get in the ring for real. I have to stay calm and wait until the fight comes."

Magdaleno dethroned Nonito Donaire in November 2016 with a unanimous decision win in Las Vegas. He then stopped Adeilson Dos Santos in two rounds last April. By the time he squares off with Dogboe, it will have been 371 days since his last outing.

"It’s about experience, staying focused, and doing our job," Magdaleno continued. "Manny keeps me focused on the fight, and that is my main concern.

"It’s been a long training camp, and I’ve been training with some excellent fighters. I was with [WBO World Featherweight Champion] Oscar Valdez in Mexico, and now, it’s the home stretch. We’re more than ready to get back in the ring."

While Magdaleno respects his challenger, the pre-fight tensions were heightened last month after Dogboe's father and trainer gave an explosive interview to Ghana Pulse.

"We hope Magdaleno will not run like a chicken. We are ready to eat him like a chicken. We are focused, and our only mission is to devour him, eat the crazy chicken, throw him over the wall of Mexico and present the title to Donald Trump," said Paul Dogboe, who has since apologised.
