According to Kevin Barry, the trainer of Joseph Parker, Andy Ruiz Jr is the favourite for December 10th’s WBO World Heavyweight Title fight, live on BoxNation.
The Mexican is three years older than Parker and has had eight more fights in the paid ranks, but they are both unbeaten going into the contest in Auckland, New Zealand.

“Andy Ruiz is an eight year professional. He was a tremendous amateur - you don’t have 110 amateur fights and win 105 of them unless you know what you’re doing,” Barry said at a press conference this week.
“He’s undefeated in 29 fights. He is the favourite to win this fight, there is no doubt in my mind about that. As far as I’m concerned, he is the guy that’s expected to win.”
The 57-year-old also referenced the influence of Ruiz’s experienced coach Abel Sanchez, who trains WBC, WBA and IBF Middleweight World Champion Gennady Golovkin.
“We all know that Parker punches fast,” he continued, “well I believe Andy Ruiz punches faster than Joe. I studied Andy up close a little under four years ago, I did some work with him in the gym and thought, ‘this guy is destined to become a World Champion’.”
The Kiwi stated there has been a lack of competitive match-ups in the Heavyweight division this year, but hopes that Parker v Ruiz will deliver for the fans.
“When there are two guys who like to come forward, there’s an explosion in the middle. I think this is going to be the most exciting Heavyweight fight of the year!”
