Saturday's intriguing Super-Welterweight unification between Erislandy Lara and Jarrett Hurd got even more interesting after a fiery press conference on Thursday night.

Lara, the longest standing belt holder in the division, defends his WBA World Title against IBF Champion Jarrett Hurd in Las Vegas, live on BoxNation.

Unbeaten Hurd (21-0, 15 KOs) spoke with a confident swagger at the presser and said that with his power, he can stop any man in the division. His noisy entourage responded with loud chants of "Swift", his nickname.

Speaking through his translator, Cuba's Lara responded with a warning: "All those guys yelling and talking out there...you're not getting in the ring with him, so come Saturday night it's going to be the third version of Chucky. I'll leave his face all torn up, so get ready because there's going to be a lot of punishment!"

Lara v Hurd TOTT

Lara has made five defences of the WBA crown he won after outpointing Ishe Smith in 2014, five months on from a narrow defeat on the cards to Canelo Alvarez.

This bout is a classic match-up of boxing skill against come-forward aggression, and Lara is confident Hurd's tactics will play into his own hands.

"Everyone knows I love to fight his style. I’ve fought better and taller fighters than him and you’ve seen me dominate them. It’s going to be nothing different on Saturday night. I want him to come forward. That’s what I’m prepared for.

"I have to give Hurd credit for taking the fight. It’s been hard to get fighters in the ring with me. There’s no need to talk because on Saturday we will find out everything we need to know," added 'The American Dream'.
