WBO World Junior-Middleweight champion Liam Smith has responded to speculation Shane Mosley could be his next opponent insisting “I think I could beat him very comfortably now.”

‘Beefy’, who is set to make the first defence of his World Title on December 19, admitted “He was frightening as a lightweight but times change, I think he’s passed it.”

Speaking to Kugan of BoxNation’s weekly Cassius and Helder show, the 27 year old revelled in his new found Champion status.

“Anyone who wants the WBO Title has got to come through me now, it’s nice to have people of his stature mentioning me.”

Analysing Mosley’s recent rematch against Ricardo Mayorga, the popular Scouser reflected “The fight was a bit of a joke.”

Smith played down reports of a domestic World Title defence insisting he wants to go forward and fight bigger, international names then unify the division.
